What we collect, why, and what we do with it. We collect as little as the site can work with.

What we collect

  • Your email address, so you can sign in and so posts can be traced to a real account. It is never shown on your posts or to other users.
  • Your profile: handle, display name, optional home country and optional short bio. These are public.
  • What you post: your posts, comments, votes, photographs, and the times you made them. Posts and comments are public. Which way you voted is not.
  • If you sign in with Google: your email address and the fact that a Google identity is linked. We do not receive your Google password, and we do not read anything else from your Google account.
  • Technical records kept for security and for defending posts if they are challenged: IP address and browser user-agent at the time of posting. These are never published and are not shown to other users.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell your personal information.
  • We do not show advertising, and we do not share your data with advertisers.
  • We do not machine-translate your posts or generate content in your name.

Who processes data for us

  • Supabase — database, accounts and file storage.
  • Vercel — hosting and delivery of the site.
  • Resend — sending sign-in and notification emails.
  • hCaptcha — distinguishing people from bots at sign-up.

Analytics

We use privacy-conscious analytics to understand which pages are used. Analytics never receive your email address or your name.

Your choices

You can edit your profile at any time. You can ask us to delete your account by writing to hello@visittanzania.io, and we will remove your profile and personal information. Posts you have written may remain published without your name attached, because other people’s replies and price summaries depend on them; tell us if you want a specific post removed as well and we will consider it.

You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you at the same address.

Retention

We keep account records for as long as the account exists. IP and user-agent records attached to posts are kept for two years and then deleted.
